Maureen
Maureen, The Voice of Shatta
At only 25, Maureen has emerged as one of the most exciting new forces in global music. A commanding performer and a complete artist, she carries the sound of Martinique onto the world stage with shatta, a raw, unapologetic, and proudly Creole genre that’s redefining contemporary Caribbean music.
With only a few releases, Maureen has already positioned herself as the movement’s leading figure. Her tracks have powered moments as bold as Mugler’s runway soundtrack, spotlighted her as a guest star on Netflix’s Nouvelle École, and will soon see her perform alongside Kalash before 20,000 fans at Stade Pierre-Aliker in Fort-de-France.
Much like zouk before it, shatta is a cultural revolution. Stripped-down dancehall rhythms, heavy basslines, slowed-down tempos, and explosive percussion meet Maureen’s deep, commanding voice, creating a sound that’s spreading far beyond the Caribbean.
From “Flex” to “Tic”, her music has resonated internationally, amplified by standout collaborations with Kalash, Lala &ce, MadeinParis, and Jahyanai. With her Gold-certified hit “Laptop”, winner of Caribbean or Caribbean-Inspired Track of the Year at the 2023 Les Flammes awards, Maureen proved her star power. Invited back the following year, she delivered a live performance that cemented her reputation as a generational artist.
Maureen is more than a rising star, she is the sound of a new era for Creole music, fierce and universal.
